Panzano's Golden Valley
Join us Monday for an evening with Lorenzo Mattoni, a small, family-run estate in Bevagna, Umbria, dedicated to showcasing the region's native grapes. Lorenzo launched his own label in 2013, building on the legacy of his father, Lodovico Mattoni, a key figure in the rise of dry Sagrantino. Farming roughly nine hectares of family vineyards without irrigation, Lorenzo focuses on sustainable viticulture and minimal intervention in the cellar, using cement fermentation and large oak casks to preserve the character of the fruit. The lineup highlights Sagrantino, Umbria's famously powerful, tannic red grape, alongside Dinamico, a Sagrantino-led blend with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, and Trebbiano Spoletino, a distinctive local white.
