Organic Pioneers of Lazio
Join us Monday for a deeper look at Lazio, a region with far more to offer than its proximity to Rome. Founded by Marco Carpineti in the 1980s, this family-run estate is based in Cori, southeast of Rome, where the hills are home to ancient grape varieties and volcanic, tuff-rich soils. Carpineti was an early adopter of certified organic farming in Italy, building its philosophy around environmental stewardship, indigenous grapes, and a strong connection to local history. The family also explores biodynamic farming and amphora aging, bringing ancient varieties and techniques into a distinctly modern expression of Lazio. Steve Orlinick will be on site to pour the wines and share the story of a producer helping put Lazio's indigenous grapes back on the map.
