Alpine Roots
Cantina Terlan is a historic winery located in the village of Terlano in the Alto Adige region of northeastern Italy. Founded in 1893 by 24 local winegrowers, it began as a cooperative created to improve the quality and marketing of the region’s wines. Today the cooperative includes more than 140 member growers who farm vineyards on steep Alpine slopes surrounding the village. Cantina Terlan is particularly famous for its focus on mineral-driven white wines grown in rich volcanic soils that help give the wines their distinctive character. The winery emphasizes long aging, storing wines in extensive cellars to develop complexity and longevity. Through its focus on terroir, careful viticulture, and cooperative collaboration, it has become one of the most respected wine producers in Alto Adige.
